A genre of music, started in the mid 20th century and continues to the present day. Being much shorter in duration, compared to music of the previous eras, the pieces are also really diverse, since composers experiment a lot with their styles. There aren't too many rules and the simplicity of the pieces are appreciated more. Owing to how little restraint there is, in the composition form, repetitions and even complete silence are used as ornamentation in the pieces (a piece by John Cage, 4'33", is just silence. No matter what instruments are involved, there is nothing played for 4 minutes 33 seconds)
Here are a few of my most favourite contemporary composers.

Ludovico Einaudi
An Italian pianist and composer, he started as a classical musician but later incorporated pop, rock and film scores into his compositions. He has composed the scores for a number of films and television programs like This Is England, The Intouchables, I'm Still Here, the TV miniseries Doctor Zhivago, and Acquario. He has composed quite a lot of music which are published in various albums like Una Mattina, Divenire and In a Time Lapse.
Some of my favourites by Einaudi are Experience, Nuvole Bianche, Divenire and Fly.

Jean Philippe Rio Py
French pianist and composer, more famously known by his stage name as RIOPY and JPRP. He is a self taught pianist, meaning he learnt to play the piano by himself when he saw an abandoned piano in his childhood. Based in London, his first album "riopy" was released in 2018. It was followed by Tree of Light and Bliss, along with a bunch of film scores.
Some of my favourites are I Love You, Be a Prelude, Epiphany, Ukiyo and Bee.
Ian Maloney

American composer, still studying studio under Joel Krosnick at The Juilliard School of music. He also plays the cello, piano and trumpet. His compositions are purely classical and he has won various competitions like the Lyra Youth Music Competition, Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition, Adelphi Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition and many others. He has also conducted Masterclasses for the Cello.
String Quartets 1 and 2 in F major are my favourite pieces by Maloney.

Jordon He
Australian composer and violinist. More than any classical piece he has composed, he is best known for his fun and small pieces imitating the composition styles of composers like Debussy, Shostakovich, Bach and Beethoven. He also composed pieces with a few notes (which make the name of the piece) like BAE, DAB, CABBAGE and DEAF, usually made in collaboration with the YouTube channel Twosetviolin.
Well that's all for now! Go check out these amazing composers and tell u which one you found the best!
